Don't step on the taboo for the Lunar New Year

(Part 2)

In the past few days, our team has received overwhelming feedback on the Chinese New Year customs. In view of this, we continue to introduce the customs and taboos from the fourth day to the seventh day of Chinese New Year.

Fourth day of the Lunar New Year: Gods Reception Day

According to folklore, the Gods will return to heaven to report on their duties on the 24th day of the twelfth lunar month, and return to the folk on the fourth day of the lunar month. Therefore, the fourth day of the Lunar New Year is a day to welcome the Gods back to the world. It is necessary to prepare three animals (meat), four fruits, hair cakes, candies, three cups of tea and prayer gold papers.

Since the Kitchen God will check the household registration and the people need to prepare plentiful offerings to welcome the Gods, it is not suitable to go out on this day.

Fifth day of Lunar New Year : Welcoming the God of Wealth

According to legend, the fifth day of the Lunar New Year is the birthday of the Five Gods of Wealth, so all major businesses and companies will officially open and recommence work on this day in order to "gain abundance wealth". The taboos during the Chinese New Year will be broken on this day, and the garbage accumulated during the Chinese New Year will be dumped on this day to clean up the environment.  It is forbidden to break the ground on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, otherwise disasters may occur.

Sixth day of Lunar New Year: End the Poverty

It is a number that symbolizes auspiciousness. Most restaurants and businesses will officially open on the sixth day of the Lunar New Year and set off firecrackers at the entrance of the store.  On the sixth day of the new year is also a day you can clean up the garbage accumulated during the Chinese New Year, which is the so-called "send the poor away" custom, and send the bad luck of the past out of the house.

The seventh day of Lunar New Year: Nothing is suitable to be carried out

The seventh day of the lunar month is also the day of everyone's birthday as well as the day of "seven evil spirits".  On this day everyone should show respect to each other. Bosses and parents  shouldn’t be harsh to their subordinates and children. The "Seven Evil Days" is not recommended to conduct any activities and traveling far is the biggest taboo among them.
